Former Wake County Commissioner and public schools advocate Yevonne Brannon sent the following email to the Livable Raleigh Advisory Committee after our September 7 fundraiser.
We are honored to have earned her respect.
I am so very proud of all the work you all do every day to keep Raleigh livable! To keep our public informed.
Thank you for standing in the way of complacency that seems to dominate the behavior of our elected officials.
Thank you all for challenging the status quo and resisting the comfortable but risky state of inaction when our elected leaders fail to do what is best for “all of us.”
I appreciate your constant vigilance, your push for accountability and how you seek and embrace feedback from your members and your community of followers.
Thank you for cultivating a culture of communication and honesty in our city politics. This fosters engagement and keeps elected leaders and voters aware of potential issues.
Thank you for never failing to let us all know when the king is indeed naked!!
Finally, thank you for recognizing and celebrating the small wins and looking for ways to reward proactive behavior — this promotes positive reinforcement and motivates individuals to continue to push for the very best policies for our city.
Thank you Matthew Brown for hosting in your beautiful home that reminds us that keeping the charm, beauty, and history of our city is vital to the cultural, social and economic success of our city.
If you appreciate the kind of reporting we bring to you
