At the City Council meetings on November 6, 2024, it was made clear once again that Raleigh’s leaders believe their priority is to cater to the needs of the development community while sweeping the residents of Raleigh to the side.

Councilors cringed at Baldwin’s childish bullying. But, most voted with her anyway, packing one last council meeting full of developer approvals while cancelling the public’s last comment opportunity.

Baldwin angrily demanded councilors be present for developers because it’s what they “signed up for.” She showed no such concern over not having five of the eight councilors willing to show up for a scheduled public comment meeting thus cancelling it for a lack of quorum.

So much for improving public engagement councilors!

Note – Councilors Melton, Forte, Branch and Harrison voted with Mayor Baldwin while Councilors Patton and Jones voted against.
