Raleigh’s Office of Community Engagement held the first Engage Raleigh: Community and Neighborhood Expo on Saturday, September 7, 2024. The Expo was a great networking opportunity that brought many community organizations together for the first time with departments from the City of Raleigh. Towards the end of the Expo, I said to Tiesha Mosley and her staff that the Community Engagement Office really “knocked it out of the ballpark” with this event! I expressed my optimism that this Expo was the beginning of a new Raleigh tradition.

RCAC Chair Robert Rice talks with Expo attendees

A number of us CAC Chairs attended the Expo and we had an RCAC table in the middle of the convention hall. Many attendees came by our table and learned more about Raleigh’s Citizen Advisory Councils, our history and plans for the future. They also added their names to our email list.

After one program was over, I was talking with Dan Bagley (the Neighborhood Enrichment Administrator in the Housing & Neighborhoods Department) when Tiesha Mosley walked up and joined our conversation. It was the dream conversation I’d been wanting to have with the two of them about how CACs should partner and work with both of their departments. Partnering with the Community Engagement Office for creating programing opportunities and disseminating information to Raleigh Residents, while working with the Housing & Neighborhoods Department to grow community engagement by connecting Raleigh’s registered neighborhoods with CACs.

Community Engagement Office + Housing & Neighborhoods Department + Citizen Advisory Councils = SUCCESS

Looking forward to creating successfull community engagement opportunities for all Raleigh residents.
