Mitchell Silver is a former Raleigh Planning Director, recently hired by developers to lobby for 30-40 story buildings next to an historic neighborhood near downtown.
Speaking before Council Tuesday, Nov 7, Silver repeated a false claim he previously made at the Planning Commission – that the Glenwood-Brooklyn neighborhood cannot have Transition Area protection from 30-40 story buildings without first completing an expensive city-mandated Area Plan. But when a Councilor asked city staff if Silver’s Area Plan requirement was true, the simple answer was ‘No’.
Mitchell Silver is a smooth talker when it comes to city planning. But since returning to Raleigh as a development lobbyist, he has twice claimed to be an expert and then made false and deceptive public statements about Raleigh’s growth rules. Mitchell is a nice person, but as a development lobbyist he has proven he can’t be trusted.
