1. Proposed Budget Documents
- The proposed operating and capital budget documents are available online from the Budget and Management Services department webpages at https://raleighnc.gov/budget-and-management-services
2. FY2025 Budget Notes
- Councilor Patton asks staff to find funding for actuarial sources to review impact of separation allowances for firefighters as well as other staff
- Mayor Pro Tem Melton supports an actuarial study and continuing to look at options
- Mayor Baldwin says an actuarial study may take 3-6 months
- Councilor Jones submitted an actuarial study conducted by the Firefighters; City Manager says Finance Department has some concerns about the study and it won’t be ready until after the summer break
- Mayor Pro Tem suggests that City hire an actuary to review the existing actuarial study
- Councilor Harrison asks for more information about why people are leaving and what other benefits might influence those decisions
- Councilor Forte asks about looking at twelve-hour shifts and Mayor Baldwin supports
- City Manager says staff will continue to work with Public Safety Collaborative on these issues and would bring back information to a work session
- City Manager says it could take six months before staff could report back, but will keep Council informed along the way and make sure it gets done before election
- Will fund the study with current budget
