Join neighbors and come to hear Raleigh City Manager as we celebrate Black History Month and to honor legacies and trailblazers from our community that have lived in Idlewild and College Park in the 1950s-70's. The event will take place on Saturday, February 24, 2024 from 11-12 a.m. at the Tarboro Road Community Center.
Hope that everyone is having a good year. In addition to all of the recent holidays, February was a special month for Raleigh CACs with the recognition and support that was approved by Council on February 6. While details on the renewed relationship with the City are still being discussed, the recent Council action has brought back a critical community driven means of information exchange with residents and City administration. The challenge for 2024 will be to strengthen and expand the function and relationship of CACs to all neighborhoods in Raleigh, especially in those areas where CACs have ceased to function due to lack of City support for four years. A special thanks to City Council and all of the volunteers and supporters of CACs that made the return of CACs possible. One more important note: The Six Forks Road Improvement project will finally be presented to Council during their session on February 20. Please encourage the Council to get this project moving. Time is ticking away and development is not waiting! Each day that the project is further delayed increases overall costs and prolongs the traffic issues for Midtown while keepin property owners in limbo while they continue to […]

Neighbors, Hope that everyone is doing well this month. Appended is our agenda for this month’s meeting. We are continuing the hybrid model, with the in person meeting at Eastgate Park Community Center, combined with virtual participation using Zoom. We will open the meeting with updates from our local RPD members, followed by some special guests. As many of you know, Council is working on the budget for 2024 / 2025. In an effort to inform our area residents on issues of importance, we are featuring some work force groups that need more local attention. This month, we are hosting Caleb Lewis, representing the Raleigh Professional Firefighters Association (RPFFA) for a discussion on Separation Allowance for Firefighters. Our second guest speaker will provide additional detail on the long awaited Six Forks Road Improvement project that was finally approved by Council in February. While this project has been scaled back in terms of road coverage, it will definitely provide property relief to those residents and businesses along Six Forks road, in addition to traffic relief and improved intersection safety from Rowan to Millbrook road. Hopefully, this first stage of improvement will lead to budgeting for additional sections of Six Forks (stages […]
