This program is designed to help small businesses with storefronts in Raleigh that are still financially recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic by providing aid of up to $30,000, tied to technical assistance programs that help foster strategic and resilient business growth. Applications for the second round will be open from February 27th until March 12th. Applicants that were awarded funds for the first round of relief through the Oak City Biz Labs program are not eligible to apply. Let’s Discuss Rezoning for the New Bern Avenue Transit Overlay District Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) stations are planned along New Bern Avenue. Zoning changes are proposed to add the Transit Overlay District (TOD) to the zoning map along the future New Bern Avenue Bus Rapid Transit route. The TOD requires walkable development in core areas around transit routes and incentivizes the inclusion of affordable housing units in new buildings. Beginning in January 2023, the City will be hosting a series of events related to zoning changes, housing affordability, and sustainable growth. All events are open to the public, though some may require advance registration. During these information sessions, participants will view examples of missing middle housing in Raleigh, and staff will provide an overview of the zoning changes and discuss the process that got us here. There will also be time to ask questions and provide feedback in smaller groups. Meetings will be held in person across Raleigh and there will also be a virtual option. This Hearing will be at Wake County Superior Court about the Motions to Dismiss filed by Wake Stone and DEQ. We will argue that our case should go to a contested trial.
