Appeal of the Denial of the RDU Quarry Mining Permit

February 20, 2023 @ 8:30 AM - February 24, 2023 @ 5:00 PM

Appeal of the Denial of the RDU Quarry Mining Permit

February 13-16 and February 20-24: 9am
Contested Trial

DEQ denied Wake Stone’s Mining Permit Application to put a rock mine on the Odd Fellows Tract in February 2022. Wake Stone appealed. The Umstead Coalition’s request to be an Intervening party was denied (for now) and we are submitting an Amicus Brief. The Attorney General’s office (AG) is defending the Mining Permit Denial. Discovery, motions to dismiss, pre-trial hearings, similar have been completed and the judge has ordered a two-week contested trial. Let us know if you plan to attend.

The trial is open to the public. You can attend any day(s) of the hearing in person at:

Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH)

Courtroom A
1711 New Hope Church Road
Raleigh, NC 27609
Please arrive at 8:30am to show ID, sign-in and go through a  security check to be ready for a 9am start. Sit in the section behind our attorneys (likely on the far side as you enter the courtroom).
