Tim Beatley is the founder of the Network of Biophilic Cities. Raleigh is a member of the Network but apparently this status is not well understood or appreciated. Would you like to see more green wall planters on our tall parking decks? Would you like to see more tree lined streets and plants that attract butterflies, bees and birds as well as more stormwater retention gardens? There are many innovative environmentally wise projects Raleigh could be implementing IF we citizens knew of them. Let’s learn what other cities are doing!

The City is currently drafting the 2026-2030 Consolidated Plan, which will guide how the City uses federal and local funds to address homelessness, serve low- and moderate-income communities, and create affordable housing over the next five years. The 5-year Plan includes: Goals and Objectives Building affordable apartments for low-income residents Grants to help the homeless and vulnerable populations Locating affordable housing near transit Workforce Training Programs Geographic priority areas within the City Updates to Citizen Participation Plan The City will be holding six public meetings throughout Raleigh in the fall to discuss this 5-year Plan.
