Because of the City Council vote on Tuesday, February 6th to reinstate official City recognition and support of CACs, our meeting will be an update on Raleigh’s community engagement efforts and a celebration party! AGENDA: • Socializing with snacks and drinks. • Update from the 2/21/24 RCAC Board meeting and the recent CAC vote by City Council. • City Councilor Christina Jones will talk about the current status and future of Raleigh’s community engagement efforts. • Update on rezoning case Z-83-22 (property includes where the Arby’s was on Hillsborough Street)* • Continue socializing with a celebration cake along with snacks and drinks. Guided Conversation at Block Gallery: It Ain’t All Black and White Exhibition

In conjunction with honoring Black History Month, Block Gallery will host a public conversation with the featured artists of the "It Ain't All Black and White" photography exhibition. This event will be led and facilitated by Lamar Whidbee, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate with a passion for helping others overcome mental health challenges. The conversation will offer an opportunity to center Black stories as we examine the emotions and the relationship to ancestors, community, environment, and creative practice. How do our sophisticated emotions steer and inform our lives, and how do we show up in the world, behind or in front of the camera? "It Ain't All Black and White" is a Block Gallery exhibition curated by North Carolina-based photographer Leticia Clementina and features the works of 10 dynamic photographers dedicated to documenting the fullness and complexity of Black life.
