Virtual Meeting

Beginning in January 2023, the City will be hosting a series of events related to zoning changes, housing affordability, and sustainable growth. All events are open to the public, though some may require advance registration. During these information sessions, participants will view examples of missing middle housing in Raleigh, and staff will provide an overview of the zoning changes and discuss the process that got us here. There will also be time to ask questions and provide feedback in smaller groups. Meetings will be held in person across Raleigh and there will also be a virtual option. All are welcome to attend any meeting in any district. To find your district, visit the City Council webpage and scroll to "Find Your Council Member and District." Enter your home address to find your district.

Appeal of the Denial of the RDU Quarry Mining Permit

Appeal of the Denial of the RDU Quarry Mining Permit February 13-16 and February 20-24: 9am Contested Trial DEQ denied Wake Stone's Mining Permit Application to put a rock mine on the Odd Fellows Tract in February 2022. Wake Stone appealed. The Umstead Coalition's request to be an Intervening party was denied (for now) and we are submitting an Amicus Brief. The Attorney General's office (AG) is defending the Mining Permit Denial. Discovery, motions to dismiss, pre-trial hearings, similar have been completed and the judge has ordered a two-week contested trial. Let us know if you plan to attend. The trial is open to the public. Board of Adjustment

The Raleigh Board of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial body that acts on appeals for variances, special exceptions, and interpretations in the zoning regulations. Its decisions are final but may be subject to court action. The Board consists of eight members: four regular members and two alternate members are appointed to two-year terms by the City Council and must reside within the City limits; one regular member and one alternate are appointed by Wake County Commissioners and must reside within the City's extraterritorial jurisdiction. All events are open to the public, though some may require advance registration. During these information sessions, participants will view examples of missing middle housing in Raleigh, and staff will provide an overview of the zoning changes and discuss the process that got us here. There will also be time to ask questions and provide feedback in smaller groups. Meetings will be held in person across Raleigh and there will also be a virtual option. All are welcome to attend any meeting in any district. Parks and Recreation staff will be on-site to provide recreation based activities to youth, ages 5-12, during the information session. A completed drop-in registration form must be provided to Parks and Recreation staff at drop-off. To save time upon arrival, bring the completed form with you to the meeting. RHDC Executive Committee

The Executive Committee generally meets on the Wednesday preceding the third Tuesday of the month at 7:45 a.m. in the Urban Design Center, Suite 100 of the One Exchange Plaza building. (Except for remote meetings which are on the Thursday, two weeks prior to the third Tuesday of the month.)

This subcommittee reviews the language of any potential code change. The committee typically meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 4 p.m. The meetings are held at the Urban Design Center, Room 108, and sometimes at One Exchange Plaza Room 809.
