Under One Canopy: Supporting Roots & Roofs in Wake County
All Faith's Chapel at Dix Park 1030 Richardson Drive, Raleigh, NCUnder One Canopy is a public event aimed at highlighting the importance of Wake County's urban tree canopy. Leading experts will showcase research-based strategies that anyone, from individual residents to policymakers, can take to be good stewards of green spaces in a rapidly growing region. Topics will range from the latest Wake County tree canopy assessment to healing our environment one back yard at a time. Attendees will leave with an understanding of how policies that improve environmental resiliency can support sustainable and intentionally planned growth. Raleigh Historic Bike Ride
One Exchange Plaza 1 Exchange Plaza, Raleigh, NYCelebrating Historic Preservation and America’s 250th Birthday This May, we’re celebrating Preservation Month, Bike Month, and America’s 250th Birthday! Grab your bike for a 5-mile route that will feature stops at five Raleigh Historic Landmarks that span Raleigh’s 250 years of building history! Volunteers will share a brief history at each stop. The stops include: Joel Lane House - 160 S. St. Mary's St. – Raleigh's oldest surviving dwelling State Capitol & Union Square - 1 E. Edenton St. – The heart of North Carolina government Early Store Building (Heilig-Levine) - 137 S. Wilmington St. – 150+ years of downtown commerce Chavis Park Carousel - 505 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd. – A historic park and carousel (Former) BB&T Building - 227 Fayetteville St. – A downtown Raleigh icon Come Prepared The ride will begin and end at Exchange Plaza, located between Wilmington and Fayetteville Streets in downtown. Riders are encouraged to bring their own bikes and helmets. A few free e-bike and scooter rentals will also be available. Water and restrooms are available at the City of Raleigh Museum before/after the ride, but are not provided along the route - please plan accordingly. Register and see more ride details.
