Wake BRT: Western Corridor Station Area Plan Open House

Winter 2024 Open Houses Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Bus Rapid Transit is coming to Wake County! The western corridor will connect downtown Raleigh to downtown Cary along Western Boulevard. This will mean more frequent service and faster bus transit connections.  Station Area Planning New Bus Rapid Transit will attract new residents, businesses, and investment to areas around new stations. The Station Area Plan will ensure that these changes benefit existing residents and businesses, as well as visitors.  Key topics include: Walking and biking paths to stations. Housing for current and future residents. Strategies for existing businesses to thrive in the future. Regulations and policies to shape new development. Station Area Plan Options and Alternatives Join us to explore how we can achieve station area plan goals. New and enhanced sidewalks and pedestrian crossings.  Expanded bike connections. Future development options – homes, businesses, community facilities. Raleigh Stormwater would like your feedback on design and planting plans for this upcoming Green Stormwater Infrastructure in Urban Heat Islands project. Attend the upcoming public meeting at your convenience! Background Urban Heat Islands (UHIs) are areas throughout the city with few trees, little green space or large areas of paved space that can experience substantially higher temperatures than areas with more shade and less paved area. Raleigh Stormwater is identifying ways to use green stormwater infrastructure (GSI) to reduce UHI effects. Raleigh Stormwater is hosting an open house style public meeting to share updates on the Pigeon House Branch Watershed Study Meeting Details When: Tuesday, March 12 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Where: Tarboro Road Community Center (121 N Tarboro Street, Raleigh 27610) Not able to attend? Visit the Pigeon House Branch Watershed Study website to learn about the study and see the survey results. What's a Watershed? A watershed is an area of land where rainwater collects and flows or drains to a larger body of water. That can be a lake, stream, river, or ocean. The Pigeon House Branch Watershed is located in and near downtown Raleigh where water flows to Crabtree Creek and then to the Neuse River. The goal is to identify ways to improve the watershed by: Reducing flooding impacts Renewing stormwater pipes and infrastructure that is in poor condition Improving water quality Repairing streambanks

Indigenous Women Making Traditional Culture Relevant
