  • Rocky Branch Watershed Study Public Meeting

    We Completed the Watershed Study! We are hosting our final public meeting for the Rocky Branch Watershed Study. In this meeting, we will share our results and recommended stormwater improvement projects that will reduce flooding, improve water quality, and protect the community. Background A watershed is an area of land where rainwater collects and flows or drains to a larger body of water. That can be a lake, stream, river, or ocean. We completed a study of the Rocky Branch Watershed and the adjacent portion of the Walnut Creek Watershed located in southern downtown Raleigh.  The goal is to identify ways to improve the watershed by: Reducing flooding impacts Renewing stormwater pipes and infrastructure that is in poor condition Improving water quality Repairing streambanks Learn more about Rocky Branch Watershed Study!

  • Mugs and Markers! Storm Drain Marking Pop Up

    Willow House Coffee 1004 South Saunders Street

    Join us at Willow House Coffee to mark some storm drains! Help increase awareness of pollution and stormwater runoff by gluing storm drain markers on nearby storm drains. The first 5 participants will receive a free coffee mug! What is Storm Drain Marking?Empty heading Storm Drain Marking is a stormwater volunteer program that raises awareness between the connections of stormwater drainage systems, local waterways, and the impacts of pollutants. Help us make sure everyone knows that only rain should go down the storm drain! Note: This is a drop in event. Registration is not required.     Join us in an interactive training workshop about Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI), like rain gardens and rain barrels! This workshop will introduce rain garden and rain barrel design, installation, and maintenance needs, and demonstrate how these practices can help protect streams and wildlife.     Join Walnut Creek Wetland Park staff for a creek walk! We will take a guided walk through Little Rock Creek, one of Raleigh's many small, precious, and highly impacted streams. We will identify ecological concerns, learn some new ways of seeing our creeks, and get up close and personal with the water that winds its way through our lives. Registration is required.   • Creek Week Stewardship Day

    Join Raleigh Parks, Raleigh Stormwater, and the Wake County Audubon Society for a morning of hands-on conservation during Creek Week! Together, we’ll improve a tributary of Walnut Creek by cleaning up litter, removing invasive plants, and restoring the stream bank.
