The agenda for the May meeting and minutes from the April meeting are appended. In addition to our police report and Councilor updates, we are pleased to have representatives of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at NC State at our meeting this month. OLLI at NC State is a membership-based organization offering courses, lectures, study trips, and events for adults 50 and older. • Organizing meeting for restarting Raleigh’s Central CAC

John P. (Top) Greene 401 MLK Jr Blvd, Raleigh

Hi neighbors, Our first organizing meeting for restarting Raleigh’s Central CAC (Citizen Advisory Council) is a week from today on Saturday, June 6 at 2:00 PM in the John P. “Top” Greene African American Cultural Center (401 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.). Attached is an updated PDF about restarting the Central CAC. The PDF has more information and links. Please email the PDF to your friends and neighbors. Also consider printing it out and dropping it off to them as well. We’re starting to build momentum in our reactivation efforts! Our second organizing meeting on July 18 will include the president of Shaw University and hopefully Raleigh’s Mayor Janet Cowell (once she confirms her plans). We hope to create a new Central CAC board that reflects the diversity of our community. So please get involved and consider being nominated to a board position. It’s a great way to meet your neighbors!   Please respond to Mike Motsinger (michael.motsinger@gmail.com) and Brian Rineer (brineer@bellsouth.net) and let them know about your interest in restarting the Central CAC. Also let them know if you would like to serve on the new Central CAC board and be nominated to a particular position. Thanks for helping […]

  • Informal presentation and Q&A re Wake Stone Triangle Quarry

Rally Point 837 Bass Pro Lane, Cary

You are invited to an informal presentation and Question/Answer session at Rally Point Sports Pub in Cary regarding the Sunset Clause on the Wake Stone Triangle Quarry next to Umstead State Park. In December a judge ruled in favor of the Sunset Clause which would make Wake Stone's operations adjacent to Umstead cease in the year 2031. In April-ish of this year a bad judge put a stay on the good judge's ruling. But facts are facts, and the facts show the Sunset Clause is real. So, if you are interested in seeing the actual documents that prove Wake Stone and their attorneys are not telling the truth, come on out to Rally Point,
