Hi Eastsiders! Please mark your calendars for Monday, 11 May 2026 from 7-9 PM for a special East CAC meeting. There has been ongoing incidents of petty crime perpetrated by youths in the neighborhoods west of Raleigh Boulevard. Neighbors are frustrated and are looking for more effective approaches to addressing this crime. I have organized a special East CAC meeting to hear from RPD officers in the Community Impact and Engagement Division and/or the ACORNS and Community Unit regarding better ways we can help curb this activity. Other city officials have been invited and are expected to attend. My hope is that we all leave with some approaches which will benefit everyone involved. Please pass this on to other interested parties. I look forward to seeing you on the 11th. Regards, Mark Turner East CAC acting chair |

I hope that everyone had a great weekend and wonderful Mother's Day. Please note the date of our meeting. We are meeting a week earlier than normal (May 18) due to the Memorial Holiday the following Monday. Please mark your calendars accordingly. The agenda for the May meeting and minutes from the April meeting are appended. In addition to our police report and Councilor updates, we are pleased to have representatives of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at NC State at our meeting this month. Here is a link to their organization for further information: https://olli.lifelonglearning.ncsu.edu/about-us/ In addition, we will be introduced to a NCDOT beta mapping tool called "Projects Near Me” that will be having its soft launch this month, followed by going live this summer. The tool consolidates project information into a single accessible location, helping users quickly identify nearby NCDOT projects, understand their status, and access relevant details without needing to navigate multiple systems or contact the Department.
