More Homes, More Choices: Information Session – District C

Beginning in January 2023, the City will be hosting a series of events related to zoning changes, housing affordability, and sustainable growth. All events are open to the public, though some may require advance registration. During these information sessions, participants will view examples of missing middle housing in Raleigh, and staff will provide an overview of the zoning changes and discuss the process that got us here. There will also be time to ask questions and provide feedback in smaller groups. Meetings will be held in person across Raleigh and there will also be a virtual option. All are welcome to attend any meeting in any district. To find your district, visit the City Council webpage and scroll to "Find Your Council Member and District." Enter your home address to find your district.

Hi Hillsborough-Wade CAC friends, Please put our monthly Hillsborough-Wade CAC meeting on your calendar for Tuesday, February 28th at 7:00 PM. The Zoom link invitation is at the bottom of this email. Also, please forward this email to your neighborhood listserv (if your neighborhood has one). Our main presentation and discussion will be about “Missing Middle” housing in Raleigh and the corresponding text changes (TC-5-20 and TC-20-21) in Raleigh’s Unified Development Ordinance (UDO). Patrick Young and other Planning Department staff will do a 30 minute presentation with visuals, and then we’ll have a Q&A session. This will be your opportunity to better understand these text changes, ask questions, and give feedback to Raleigh’s Planning & Development Department. Let’s Discuss Rezoning for the New Bern Avenue Transit Overlay District  Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) stations are planned along New Bern Avenue. Zoning changes are proposed to add the Transit Overlay District (TOD) to the zoning map along the future New Bern Avenue Bus Rapid Transit route. The TOD requires walkable development in core areas around transit routes and incentivizes the inclusion of affordable housing units in new buildings. During the meeting you can expect to learn about: What will happen during the rezoning process. Which properties are included in the proposed rezoning. What would actually happen to the properties once rezoned.
