  • West Raleigh CAC (Virtual) including Lorimer Spring AH Development discussion

Meeting Wednesday February 26th at 7pm It’s time to meet and talk about what’s going on in West Raleigh! We had a detailed discussion with City Planner Keegan McDonald around Transit zoning and the possible Lorimer Spring Affordable Housing Development. This month we will talk with Tim Morgan from Evergreen Construction about the proposed 60 rental apartments that will be age restricted to those 55 years or older. Will these be all affordable rentals? What is the income level that an applicant will need to meet to be eligible to live there? What other sites were considered for this development and why does this site fit the criteria for this level of density?   We will have Captain Jonathan Manson from RPD to discuss crime in this area of Raleigh as well as representatives from the Transportation and Utilities departments to talk about the impact along Garland Drive if this proposed development moves forward. We will also hold time for community updates from our members and welcome you to bring any topic to us for consideration at future meetings. We hope you can join us via zoom on Wednesday evening at 7pm. Zoom Link follows the agenda *Agenda* Lorimer Spring […]

  • Southwest Raleigh Community Engagement Group

Carolina Pines Community Center 2305 Lake Wheeler Road, Raleigh, NC, United States

Friends and neighbors, SW Community Meeting at the Carolina Pines Community Center (2305 Lake Wheeler Rd.). We will meet in person, without streaming, next Monday evening, March 10th, at 7:00 pm. There will be reports from Raleigh Police Officers and City Inspections. We plan to have a special update from Kate Pearce, Director of Dix Park about the upcoming completion and opening of the beautiful new Gipson Play Area at Dorothea Dix Park. We need your help! City of Raleigh Engineering Services requested at the recent City Council meeting that all three bids submitted for the Carolina Pines Improvement Project be rejected because they are excessively high. That is based on a revised estimate that was lowered after three years to $16,906,895 from the original Capital Projects Bond amount of $19,492,517. Council did not do so and will consider the Project in a Work Session on 11 March. Apparently funds available for the project have also dwindled over the last three years to $14,312,143. Please reach out and let our representatives know that we need this project as originally designed and not some "fire sale" left-over scaled down version. Ask Council to find the missing $5,180,374 and build our long […]

  • East CAC

Lions Park Community Center 516 Dennis Avenue, Raleigh

You all are going to love our special guest for this month’s CAC meeting because he’ll be covering a topic we all really care about! Sean Driskill, the manager of Raleigh’s Vision Zero program will be presenting at our meeting next Monday. For those of you who are confused by the program name as I originally was, Vision Zero refers to the goal of reducing traffic fatalities so much that we end up having zero fatalities. A lofty goal, but they’re starting out just trying to reduce injuries and fatalities along our transportation network. 🚙 Please come to our meeting Monday the 24th at 7 pm at the Lion’s Park Community Center to learn more about how the City of Raleigh is working to achieve this goal and to share your thoughts. Looking forward to seeing you all there! Best, Jean Mosher East CAC Chair PS: Please mark your calendars for next month's special earth day meeting on April 21. Our city’s Urban Forester Zack Manor. 🌳
