Please join us Monday evening (April 14th) at 7:00 PM for our monthly SW Raleigh Community Engagement (SWRCE) meeting using Zoom. The link for joining the virtual meeting is below. Following our Inspections and Police Reports, we will be getting an update on the coming opening of the Gipson Play Plaza at Dorothea Dix Park. Carolina Pines Avenue improvement project has been approved and fully funded. We are close to an announcement about construction starting and plans for detours. Raleigh Golf Association is also in the process of selling some property that is seeking rezoning for affordable apartments at 60% AMI. We will spend some time discussing community inputs. If you have opinions, concerns, or just general comments that you want to share, this is the time. Hi Neighbors, Please join us for our special Earth Day meeting on April 21 at 7pm at the Lion’s Park Community Center. (Technically the day before Earth Day.) We have a few very special guests lined up. Zack Manor, the city’s Urban Forester will be talking to us about Raleigh’s trees- how to maintain our tree canopy and how to increase it in areas. Then we’ll have neighbors Adam Daland and Jordyne Krumroy with Trees for the Triangle talk to us about their private efforts! And of course there will be time to share your thoughts. City of Raleigh Monthly Report and Update - Captain Manson (SW-Southwest). Captain Notch (SE-Southeast), Captain Van Antwerp (DT-Downtown). Our SW area is now part of three Raleigh Police Districts. Carolina Pines Ave Improvement Project - Raleigh City Council recently provided final approval for the Street and sidewalk project that will extend from Lake Wheeler Rd. to South Saunders St. After several years we are close to a Contractor and Construction schedule meeting. This is going to be a complex project. Raleigh Golf Association (RGA) - Land Sale and Rezoning - RGA property north of Tryon Rd. is in the process of being sold. There is a rezoning case that will allow "Affordable 60% AMI" apartments being built there. The number of units planned is currently about 370. Hi Neighbors! Please join the East CAC next Monday for our monthly meeting. 5/19/2025 Lions Park Community Center 7 pm We are lucky to have Senior Engineer Sheri Smith joining us to tell us about the Pigeon House Watershed study and take your questions. The goal of the study is to identify ways to improve the watershed by reducing flooding, replacing/renewing stormwater pipes and infrastructure in poor condition, improve water quality, and repairing stream banks. There is also time for folks to share information about things going on in our area and have a general discussion. My co-chair Mark records the meetings live on Facebook and YouTube. He keeps an eye on the chat so you can ask questions even if you aren’t physically present.
