Raleigh Historic Development Commission
Public Meeting – June 10, 2026
The Raleigh Historic Development Commission will conduct a public meeting on Wednesday, June 10 at 8:30 a.m. at the Raleigh Municipal Building, 222 W. Hargett Street in the City Council Chamber.

This is an opportunity for the public to comment on items or issues that are otherwise not on the agenda. Please limit comments to 3 minutes per speaker.
In accordance with City Council’s adopted recommendations, voicemail public comments are available to the public for RHDC. This option does not apply to the COA Committee and quasi-judicial hearings.
Residents may phone in ahead of the meeting and leave up to a three-minute voicemail message. Comments provided via the voicemail feature will be uploaded here the evening before the RHDC meeting.

Per the Rules of Procedure, the RHDC shall elect from its membership a chairperson and vice-chairperson, who shall serve for a term of 1 year, beginning on July 1st of each year. Officers shall be eligible for reelection and have the right to vote. The nomination and election of the Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson shall occur during the regular June meeting of the Commission.
Recommended Action: Open the floor for nominations then vote to elect the Chair and Vice-Chair.

The RHDC’s annual retreat is scheduled for June 16th at 5:30 PM. The purpose of the annual retreat is to accept the past year’s annual report and to establish the work program for the upcoming year.

In advance of the upcoming Historic Design Standards update project, staff will lead a guided discussion of the current design standards used to review Certificates of Appropriateness. Staff will provide an overview of the current Design Guidelines for Raleigh Historic Districts and Landmarks and the structure of the new design standards. This will be a monthly item through July.
This month’s focus is the entirety of Section 3, including several sections dealing with additions and new construction.
Recommended Action: Provide feedback that staff will share with the consultant.
