WHEREAS Housing Authority of the City of Raleigh, property owner, requests the following design alternates from the Main Street Parallel Parking standards in UDO Section 8.5.5.D for Dorothea Drive: (1) to reduce the required right-of-way width from 73 feet to 61 feet; (2) to reduce the required back-of-curb width from 41 feet to 37 feet; (3) to reduce the minimum sidewalk width from 10 feet to 6 feet; (4) to reduce the travel lane width from 12 feet to 10 feet; and (5) to provide tree lawn instead of tree grates. The property owner also requests the following design alternates from the Main Street Parallel Parking standards in UDO Section 8.5.5.D for West Street: (6) to reduce the required right-of-way width from 73 feet to 69 feet; (7) to reduce the required back-of-curb width from 41 feet to 37 feet; and (8) to reduce the required travel lane width from 12 feet to 10 feet. All requests are in conjunction with the construction of an affordable housing community with apartments, townhouses, and retail on an approximately 3.64 acreproperty zoned RX-3-TOD located at 416 Dorothea Drive.
