  • Planning Commission Committee of the Whole

    Raleigh Municipal Building 222 W. Hargett St., Raleigh, NC, United States

    The Committee of the Whole is an informal special meeting of the full Planning Commission, held to facilitate further discussions on specific referral items. The Planning Commission bylaws state that rezoning requests that are deemed inconsistent with the Comprehensive Plan and future land use map are automatically referred to the Committee of the Whole. Additionally, requests for Planned Development or Campus District are also automatically referred to this Committee. The committee typically meets on the fourth Thursday of the month at 4 p.m. The meetings are held at the Raleigh Municipal Building (RMB), located at 222 West Hargett Street, in the Council Chamber or in conference room 305.   • RHDC Certificate of Appropriateness Committee

    RHDC Certificate of Appropriateness Committee public meetings are held in the Raleigh Municipal Building, City Council Chamber. A broadcast is available via the following methods: the city’s website, the city’s YouTube Channel, or Channel RTN-11.     Syllabary Aug. 2 - Oct. 25, 2026 Join us for a closing reception for Syllabary on Saturday, Oct. 24 from 2:30 - 4 p.m. Check out the artwork, meet the artist, and enjoy an afternoon of community at Pullen Arts Center Featuring the artwork of interdisciplinary Durham-based artist Jason Lord, Syllabary is an evolving body of work emerging from questions I have returned to for years about the relationship between parts and wholes, the ways rules generate possibility rather than merely constrain it, the strange power of language to gather the world into names while inevitably leaving something outside them, and the different kinds of thinking that become possible through making. These questions are not illustrated by the work so much as discovered through the process of making it, emerging through assembling and disassembling, repeating and revising, working within self-imposed constraints, and allowing materials, forms, and images to migrate across different contexts.
