Fabricating Reverence: A Reflective Walk & Performance Experience

Fabricating Reverence, a new performance art piece choreographed and danced by Myra Vincenza, is a collective reflection on loss and grief. Part vigil, part performance, the experience takes place at Lake Johnson Park that begins with a reflective walk (about half a mile) that starts at the Thomas G. Crowder Woodland Center and ends at the Waterfront Center. Fabricating Reverence is presented as part of SEEK Raleigh, an experimental public arts program of Raleigh Arts. 50th Anniversary of Hip-Hop Celebration

The Friends of the City of Raleigh (COR) Museum presents a series of special events commemorating the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop Music on August 12, 2023. Presented in cooperation with the City of Raleigh, the celebration features both day and night activities that explore Raleigh’s connection to the genre that has made a global cultural impact since 1973. Event Schedule 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. - The City of Raleigh Museum will showcase local scholars and industry experts in a public lecture and roundtable discussion on Hip Hop and how it shaped culture in Raleigh. 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. - Downtown Raleigh’s Fayetteville Street will host a free, family-friendly event with performers, artists, vendors, and dancers. The City of Raleigh Museum will feature a roundtable discussion with early Hip Hop pioneers who brought the music to the Triangle. 6:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. - Raleigh’s Union Station, the Friends of the COR Museum will sponsor a Hip Hop Sneaker Ball with legendary DJs and performers, a photo booth, a VIP area, a Hip Hop archive display, and more!
