Elections, Libraries staff partner on one of largest initiatives to date The Wake County Board of Elections and Wake County Public Libraries are partnering to offer voter services at eight local libraries on Saturdays this summer. Events will take place from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. June 22 through Aug. 17, with the exception of July 6. Board of Elections staff will visit eight libraries over eight weekends to offer voter registration updates and upcoming election information. Visitors will also be able to get a photo voter ID, which is now required to be shown by registered voters who do not already have an acceptable ID. A full list of accepted voter IDs can be found at  ncsbe.gov/voting/voter-id. “We always strive to empower more people to vote in Wake County by making information and resources as accessible as possible,” said Olivia McCall, Board of Elections director. “This collaboration with the libraries is an excellent opportunity for us to provide accurate information and help residents better prepare for the upcoming elections.” The two organizations have worked together to offer voter registration at local libraries for years, but this is one of the largest initiatives ever planned. Big Branch Greenway Connector pop-up – Postponed due to weather

Big Branch Greenway Connector Pop-Up Event Postponed! The North Hills National Night Out Event, where the Big Branch Greenway Connector Project will host a project pop-up event, has been postponed. This event was originally scheduled for tonight, August 6th, from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm at North Hills Midtown Park, 4011 Cardinal at North Hills Street, Raleigh, NC 27609. Due to inclement weather, this event is being postponed until further notice. A new date will be posted on the Big Branch Greenway Connector Project website when that information is available. Help Plan the Big Branch Greenway Connector!  When complete, the Big Branch Greenway Connector will extend from the existing Crabtree Creek Trail, near Wake Forest Road, to Sandy Forks Road. The greenway will traverse approximately 3.5-miles, primarily adjacent to Big Branch, and is proposed to connect to both Eastgate and Cedar Hills Parks. National Night Out

This year National Night Out will be observed on Aug. 6. In observance of National Night Out, Raleigh Police asks you to leave your porch light on from 7 to 10 p.m. The porch light symbolizes alertness and awareness; it makes your neighbors and friends feel welcome. RPD also asks you to get to know your neighbors better. Stay tuned for 2024 National Night Out locations.
