  • Biodegradable Yard Waste Bag Giveaway – Glen Eden Pilot Park

    The City of Raleigh's Solid Waste Services team will be hosting popups to hand out FREE biodegradable yard waste bags this fall. Swing by Glen Eden Pilot Park to pick up your five (5) FREE biodegradable paper yard waste bags! Solid Waste Services staff will be on hand to answer all your questions about the city's new service for residents, Enhanced Weekly Yard Waste Pickup. Stormwater staff will also be available to share information about Glen Eden Pilot Park's Green Stormwater Infrastructure and answer questions about water quality programs.

  • Planning Commission Text Change Committee

    The Text Change Committee is a subcommittee where changes to the zoning code, known as the Unified Development Ordinance, are discussed. This subcommittee reviews the language of any potential code change.   • Planning Commission Committee of the Whole

    The Committee of the Whole is an informal special meeting of the full Planning Commission, held to facilitate further discussions on specific referral items. The Planning Commission bylaws state that rezoning requests that are deemed inconsistent with the Comprehensive Plan and future land use map are automatically referred to the Committee of the Whole. Additionally, requests for Planned Development or Campus District are also automatically referred to this Committee. The committee typically meets on the fourth Thursday of the month at 4 p.m. The meetings are held at the Raleigh Municipal Building (RMB), located at 222 West Hargett Street, in the Council Chamber or in conference room 305.     Unload your dearly departed electronic waste and let your old confidential documents shred in peace this spooky season!   Join Solid Waste Services for the City of Raleigh’s 2026 Shred + Dead event! From 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, October 24 at the Wilders Grove Solid Waste Services Facility, staff will be on hand to help residents dispose of specialty waste items.  Please use the main entrance for visitors and employees by turning right at the intersection of Corporation Parkway and Commerce Park Drive and follow the signage. A drive-thru system will be implemented to help ensure a smooth drop-off experience for residents. Participants are urged to drive slowly through the stations as there will be foot traffic and staff directing attendees.   • Celebrate Raleigh Arbor Day

    The City of Raleigh and We Plant It Forward are teaming up for the 2026 Raleigh Arbor Day Celebration on Oct. 24 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Carolina Pines Park. The event invites community members to take part in a hands-on day of service focused on strengthening Raleigh’s urban tree canopy through volunteer activities and guided environmental stewardship. The celebration will kick off with a ceremonial tree planting and an Arbor Day proclamation, followed by rotating stations where volunteers can learn practical tree-care techniques and support local ecosystems. At the end of the event, participants will receive a free tree to plant at home, to help contribute to Raleigh's community goal of planting 24,000 trees by 2032 through the Leaf Out initiative.
