  • Bike Bonanza

    DIX Park 1030 Richardson Dr, Raleigh, NC

    Bike Bonanza is the annual kick-off for the City of Raleigh’s Bike Month celebrations. It is a time to join other cycling enthusiasts, friends, and community members for a few hours of fun and biking related activities. This year Bike Bonanza will be held at Harvey Hill inside Dorthea Dix Park from 4:30 – 6:30pm. We encourage you to come early and stay late to enjoy all of the amenities Dix Park offers, including the new Gibson Play Plaza. This year includes: •    A bike tune-up station •    A bike decorating station hosted by vendors •    Free helmets •    Free e-bike test rides •    A guided ride led by Oaks and Spokes •    Event t-shirts •    And popsicles for the first 150 guests! As part of Bike Bonanza we welcome and invite organizations from the area to join as vendors. The requirements for a vendor are you must provide a good or service or information related to cycling, sustainability, or healthy living and offer at least some of this information/goods/services for free. The registration form is included here. We encourage you to apply as soon as possible as space is limited.   • Raleigh Historic Bike Ride

    Celebrating Historic Preservation and America’s 250th Birthday This May, we’re celebrating Preservation Month, Bike Month, and America’s 250th Birthday! Grab your bike for a 5-mile route that will feature stops at five Raleigh Historic Landmarks that span Raleigh’s 250 years of building history! Volunteers will share a brief history at each stop.  The stops include: Joel Lane House - 160 S. St. Mary's St. – Raleigh's oldest surviving dwelling State Capitol & Union Square - 1 E. Edenton St. – The heart of North Carolina government Early Store Building (Heilig-Levine) - 137 S. Wilmington St. – 150+ years of downtown commerce Chavis Park Carousel - 505 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd. – A historic park and carousel (Former) BB&T Building - 227 Fayetteville St. – A downtown Raleigh icon Come Prepared The ride will begin and end at Exchange Plaza, located between Wilmington and Fayetteville Streets in downtown. Riders are encouraged to bring their own bikes and helmets. A few free e-bike and scooter rentals will also be available. Water and restrooms are available at the City of Raleigh Museum before/after the ride, but are not provided along the route - please plan accordingly.     Join the Community Engagement Department for Rolling Together 2026, our second annual mobile resource fair, on May 2! We'll be highlighting both city departments and community partners that use vehicles to provide resources in the community.   • Stream Monitoring Workshop

    Learn How to Take Water Samples! We are hosting a training workshop for the stream monitoring program! The course will cover basic stream ecology, how to collect water quality samples, and include time for volunteers to practice sampling in the creek. Please come prepared to get a little wet and muddy in the creek. Long pants and boots are strongly encouraged. Registration for this workshop is required.
