• NCSU MEAS GSA Presents – The Cost of Growth

    NCSU Marine, Earth & Atmospheric Sciences Grad Student Assoc hosts a viewing of The Cost of Growth, a documentary that explores environmental struggles throughout Europe. The documentary creators have agreed to host a pre-screening at NC State, with proceeds going in part to the MEAS GSA! 🗓️ Thursday, Jan. 22 🕕 6 p.m. 📍 Talley Student Union Rm 3210 This event is open to everyone — bring your friends! The GSA will provide light snacks and drinks. Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased at the link below.     The Raleigh City Council had planned to hold a planning retreat in Wilmington this weekend. Due to inclement weather and in the interest of public safety, the retreat was relocated to Raleigh. Because of logistical constraints associated with the change in location, the agenda has been adjusted to a half-day session on Saturday, from 8:00 a.m. to approximately noon. The retreat will be held at Jaycee Park and is open to the public.     In addition to our Police update on area activity, I want to have an open discussion on: - the aftermath and next steps after the Council approval of the rezoning of North Hills A follow up on certain issues that are still ongoing from 2025: - the Missing Middle Case of Townhouse additions at Six Forks and Anderson. - the Future Pathway of the Big Branch Greenway Connector after Council approved the controversial section 1B through Anderson Forest. - the Green Street modification of Quail Hollow Drive with bicycle paths, traffic calming and storm water treatments. - Primary Election Questions   In addition, I would like to have a discussion of other matters of concern as we plan our agenda for 2026.   The meeting is scheduled for January 26, 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm, at Eastgate Community Center, 4200 Quail Hollow Drive. We will conduct the meeting in hybrid format, with in-person attendance (preferred if weather permitting) and with virtual participation using Zoom.
