ONE Wake Candidates and Elected Officials Assembly being held on September 19, 2026 from 1:00 pm-3:00 pm at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 11401 Leesville Road, Raleigh, NC 27613. More than 1,200 ONE Wake leaders from across Wake County will be in attendance. During the assembly, they will publicly present their affordable housing plan and share their vision for ensuring that working families, teachers, first responders, seniors, and other residents can continue to afford to live in the communities they serve. The goal is to explore practical ways that ONE Wake and the elected officials of Wake county can work together to expand affordable housing and strengthen Wake county.
Learn How to Take Water Samples! Interested in learning more about Raleigh stream ecosystems? We're hosting a volunteer stream monitoring workshop! We'll spend the first part of the workshop in the classroom and the second half in the creek practicing sample collection. This workshop is required for new stream monitoring volunteers but is open to anyone interested in learning more about our streams. When: Saturday, September 19 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM Where: Walnut Creek Wetland Park (Neuse River Room, 950 Peterson Street) Details: Individual registration is required. This event is capped at 15 participants. Please come dressed in long pants, close-toed shoes, and ready to hop in the creek.
The Dix Park Commission exists to oversee and approve matters related to Dix Park policy and development, The Dix Park Commission is supported by City staff well as Dix Park Conservancy staff.

Experience Rhythms and Whispers, a new public artwork by Nature Preserves Artist-in-Residence, Scott Hazard (@hazardscott), now on view at Annie Louise Wilkerson, MD Nature Preserve! Made of multiple layered panels of weathered steel, Rhythms and Whispers frames a view of the evolving Piedmont prairie landscape found at the preserve, encouraging visitors to pause and reflect on their surroundings. The sculpture includes text about the special landscape crafted by poets Chris Tonelli, Lauren Hunter, and Suzanne Beaumont, and conservationist, author, and historian David Rahahę·tih Webb. Meet the artist and collaborators on Thursday, Sept. 24, and learn more about the inspiration behind the work at a dedication event from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. An optional short interpretive talk and walk through the meadow where the sculpture is located will be led by Nature Preserve Manager Bryan England at 5 p.m. This project is presented by Raleigh Arts, with additional funding provided by South Arts.
