    Join us for Hobbit Fest at Moore Square on Saturday, Sept. 19, for a day-long celebration of one of the greatest fantasy adventures ever told. Experience the complete Lord of the Rings theatrical trilogy outdoors while exploring a festival filled with themed activities, local vendors, artists, food trucks, and more. The movie marathon begins at 10 a.m., with the Hobbit Fest festival experience from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., giving guests plenty of opportunities to shop, eat, play, and celebrate Middle-earth. Movie Marathon Schedule 10 a.m.  – The Fellowship of the Ring 1:30 p.m.  – The Two Towers 5 p.m.  – The Return of the King Whether you're embarking on the journey for the first time or returning to Middle-earth for the hundredth, gather your fellowship and spend the day with us in downtown Raleigh.   • ONE Wake Candidates and Elected Officials Assembly on Affordable Housing

    ONE Wake Candidates and Elected Officials Assembly being held on September 19, 2026 from 1:00 pm-3:00 pm at  Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 11401 Leesville Road, Raleigh, NC 27613. More than 1,200 ONE Wake leaders from across Wake County will be in attendance. During the assembly, they will publicly present their affordable housing plan and share their vision for ensuring that working families, teachers, first responders, seniors, and other residents can continue to afford to live in the communities they serve. The goal is to explore practical ways that ONE Wake and the elected officials of Wake county can work together to expand affordable housing and strengthen Wake county.

  • Stream Monitoring Workshop

    Learn How to Take Water Samples! Interested in learning more about Raleigh stream ecosystems? We're hosting a volunteer stream monitoring workshop! We'll spend the first part of the workshop in the classroom and the second half in the creek practicing sample collection. This workshop is required for new stream monitoring volunteers but is open to anyone interested in learning more about our streams. When: Saturday, September 19 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM Where: Walnut Creek Wetland Park (Neuse River Room, 950 Peterson Street) Details: Individual registration is required. This event is capped at 15 participants. Please come dressed in long pants, close-toed shoes, and ready to hop in the creek.
