The Committee of the Whole is an informal special meeting of the full Planning Commission, held to facilitate further discussions on specific referral items. The Planning Commission bylaws state that rezoning requests that are deemed inconsistent with the Comprehensive Plan and future land use map are automatically referred to the Committee of the Whole. Additionally, requests for Planned Development or Campus District are also automatically referred to this Committee. The committee typically meets on the fourth Thursday of the month at 4 p.m. The meetings are held at the Raleigh Municipal Building (RMB), located at 222 West Hargett Street, in the Council Chamber or in conference room 305. Community Engagement will be attending Let's Get Social Raleigh's "Fourth Annual Adult Recess Festival." The Adult Recess Festival is a unique mental health and wellness festivals and people travel from across the country to experience it. As the first and only festival centered on adult play therapy and joy, it redefines play as essential to personal, civic, and communal care. Each year, public parks are transformed into adult-only playgrounds, reimagined as the backyard we once played in until the streetlights came on.
Technical Teams are topic-based teams of subject-matter experts who meet to provide guidance and develop policy recommendations for the City’s Next Comprehensive Plan. Five teams will be organized by key topics included in the next plan: Land Use Transportation Housing and Neighborhoods Natural Resources Infrastructure and Services Each Technical Team will include: City staff Representatives from City boards and commissions Technical experts from the Raleigh community
