  • Raleigh Historic Bike Ride with RHDC & BPAC

    Nash Square 200 S McDowell St, Raleigh, United States

    Saturday, May 3 (Rain Date if needed: May 10) Nash Square Park 10 a.m. to noon May is Preservation Month and Bike Month! Hop on your bike for a ride into history. The 2ndannual Raleigh Historic Bike Ride will feature a 4-mile route including stops at six sites identified in our recently completed LGBTQIA+ Historic Context Study! RHDC volunteers at each site will share a brief history of the property. The stops include: Nash Square Park, NW corner (200 S McDowell St) Sir Walter Raleigh Hotel (400 Fayetteville St) Cameron Court Apartments (905 Hillsborough St) Women’s Culture Collective Coffeehouse (119 Hawthorne Rd) Pullen Memorial Baptist Church (1805 Hillsborough St) Legends Nightclub (330 W Hargett St) This ride is being held by the Raleigh Historic Development Commission (RHDC), in partnership with the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission (BPAC) and Raleigh Sister Cities. Come Prepared: The ride will begin and end at the northwest corner of Nash Square Park. Riders are encouraged to bring their own bikes and helmets. Free Cardinal Share e-bikes will also be available. Water and restrooms are not provided before/after the ride or along the route – please plan accordingly. REGISTER TO ATTEND

  • Capture It! Stormwater Contest Art Gallery

    Join us to celebrate students creativity and storytelling at this year's Capture It Stormwater Art and Video Gallery at the Pullen Park Arts Center. Students in grades 8-12 created compelling artwork and videos related to water quality and how pollution impacts our Raleigh lakes and streams. We are excited to share their important work with the city! The exhibition will be up from May 1 - 31 with a gallery opening celebration on Saturday, May 3 from 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM.

  • 3-on-3 Field of Dreams Basketball Tournament

    Location: Outdoor basketball courts at Green Road Park Date: May 4, 2025 Time: 12-4:00 p.m. Join us for the Field of Dreams 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament on May 4 from 12-4:00 p.m. at Green Road Park! This event will be held in conjunction with the public art installation, low-bearing fruit in a field of dreams. Eight teams will compete in a bracket-style tournament for $300 worth of prizes for the winning team. The tournament is proudly supported by the City of Raleigh, Raleigh Parks, SEEK Raleigh, and the artist Mark Anthony Brown Jr. Whether you're a seasoned player or just looking for some fun, this event offers a great opportunity to showcase your skills and enjoy the opening of the art exhibit low-bearing fruit in a field of dreams.   • Preserving Raleigh’s Black Churches

    Historic churches face many challenges. These historic spaces are havens of resilience, activism, and cultural identity. They are also physical reminders of that legacy to their communities. Come learn about the National Trust for Historic Preservation's Preserving Black Churches grant. The information we'll be sharing is aimed at church leadership and decision makers. We are encouraging registration, but it's not required. One person can register on behalf of all members attending from the same church. If you have dietary restrictions, or need language services, please let us know.
