  • Planning Commission Committee of the Whole

    Raleigh Municipal Building 222 W. Hargett St., Raleigh, NC, United States

    The Committee of the Whole is an informal special meeting of the full Planning Commission to have further discussions on specific referral items. The Planning Commission bylaws state that rezoning requests that are deemed inconsistent with the Comprehensive Plan and future land use map are automatically referred to the Committee of the Whole. Additionally, requests for Planned Development or Campus District are also automatically referred to this Committee. The committee typically meets on the fourth Thursday of the month at 4 p.m. The meetings are held at the Raleigh Municipal Building (RMB), located at 222 West Hargett Street in the Council Chamber.

  • Meeting re Lane Street drainage improvements

    Tarboro Road Community Center

    The East Lane Street drainage improvement project will comprise replacing the current stormwater pipe that runs through properties to the north of E. Lane Street.  Parts of the current pipe are in bad condition and undersized, causing flooding and sinkholes. The new pipe will either follow roughly the current path, but along the rear of the properties on the north side of the 500 block of Lane Street, or it will run under Lane Street itself, or possibly partly under Lane Street and partly along its current path. More details are forthcoming, but there will be a public meeting to share and gather information on this project. It will take place on April 24 from 5:00 to 6:30 at the Tarboro Road Community Center at 121 N. Tarboro Road. All are invited.

    Celebrate Earth Day at Mordecai Historic Park and get your herb, vegetable, and flower gardens started for the season! Heirloom varieties of plants will be on sale for great prices. All plants are started from seed by the Mordecai Historic Park gardeners. Plants will include tomatoes, peppers, squash, herbs, and much more. Gardeners will be on hand to answer questions and provide more information about the garden and grounds at Mordecai Historic Park! There will also be short educational presentations by the Wake County Beekeepers Association at 10 a.m. and the Raleigh Garden Club at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 26. Come purchase some incredible plants at low prices and learn about local efforts to help Raleigh’s plants thrive while you support the park!
