    Friends and neighbors, SW Community Meeting at the Carolina Pines Community Center (2305 Lake Wheeler Rd.). We will meet in person, without streaming, next Monday evening, March 10th, at 7:00 pm. There will be reports from Raleigh Police Officers and City Inspections. We plan to have a special update from Kate Pearce, Director of Dix Park about the upcoming completion and opening of the beautiful new Gipson Play Area at Dorothea Dix Park. We need your help! City of Raleigh Engineering Services requested at the recent City Council meeting that all three bids submitted for the Carolina Pines Improvement Project be rejected because they are excessively high. That is based on a revised estimate that was lowered after three years to $16,906,895 from the original Capital Projects Bond amount of $19,492,517. Council did not do so and will consider the Project in a Work Session on 11 March. Apparently funds available for the project have also dwindled over the last three years to $14,312,143. Please reach out and let our representatives know that we need this project as originally designed and not some "fire sale" left-over scaled down version.
