Planning Commission Committee of the Whole

The Committee of the Whole is an informal special meeting of the full Planning Commission to have further discussions on specific referral items. The Planning Commission bylaws state that rezoning requests that are deemed inconsistent with the Comprehensive Plan and future land use map are automatically referred to the Committee of the Whole. Additionally, requests for Planned Development or Campus District are also automatically referred to this Committee. The committee typically meets on the fourth Thursday of the month at 4 p.m. The meetings are held at the Raleigh Municipal Building (RMB), located at 222 West Hargett Street in Room 305.

Neuse River Park Public Workshop – Draft Concept Plan

Drop-In Public Meeting to discuss the draft concept plan for Neuse River Park. This meeting will be family-friendly and will include light refreshments and an art-making station for people of all ages. Accommodations & Translation Services are available upon request. Staff and consultants will be there to help explain and to answer questions about the draft concept plan and project phasing. Parking is available at the existing greenway trailhead at 12030 Old Falls of Neuse Road. During the public site visits, we aim to engage with current park visitors and to help explain the proposed plans for the future Neuse River Park. This event will have content similar to the Public Workshop but presented on-site! Staff will be in attendance with information boards available along the Neuse River Greenway adjacent to the future park. These are informational events and we encourage everyone to provide their detailed feedback through the online survey or at the Public Workshop.

Hands-on-History at Fletcher Park

Elections, Libraries staff partner on one of largest initiatives to date The Wake County Board of Elections and Wake County Public Libraries are partnering to offer voter services at eight local libraries on Saturdays this summer. Events will take place from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. June 22 through Aug. 17, with the exception of July 6. Board of Elections staff will visit eight libraries over eight weekends to offer voter registration updates and upcoming election information. Visitors will also be able to get a photo voter ID, which is now required to be shown by registered voters who do not already have an acceptable ID. A full list of accepted voter IDs can be found at  ncsbe.gov/voting/voter-id. “We always strive to empower more people to vote in Wake County by making information and resources as accessible as possible,” said Olivia McCall, Board of Elections director. “This collaboration with the libraries is an excellent opportunity for us to provide accurate information and help residents better prepare for the upcoming elections.” The two organizations have worked together to offer voter registration at local libraries for years, but this is one of the largest initiatives ever planned.
