Joint Raleigh/Wake Homelessness Task Force

The purpose of the Task Force is to bring together a diverse group of community stakeholders to carry out a number of tasks including, but not limited to the following: Understanding and assessing the current elements of the homeless service system in Wake County Identifying and prioritizing emerging issues related to homelessness in our community (e.g., homeless encampments and enforcement) Making recommendations to local government units and homeless service providers to improve the homeless service system Providing the community with information about available resources that exist within the homeless service system The work of the Task Force is intended to be time-limited in nature with the engagement anticipated to be six to nine months in duration.  Meetings of the Task Force will occur once per month from 10am to 12noon and preliminary meeting dates, times and locations have been identified and are listed below. Raleigh Fire Academy Information Session

Would you like to learn what it takes to be a member of the Raleigh Fire Department (RFD)? If the answer is YES, then join us for our upcoming information sessions on Thursday, July 13. During the session, you will interact with members of the department. We will share and discuss with you: the Fire Academy; what the hiring process entails; what it’s like to be a member of the Raleigh Fire; and, how to prepare for a career in the fire service. The session is from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Keeter Training Center (105 Keeter Center Drive, Raleigh, NC 27601). There will also be a virtual option offered to those who sign up and cannot attend in person, via Teams. Register online

Planning Commission Strategic Planning Committee

The Strategic Planning Committee is a subcommittee of the Planning Commission. This subcommittee can discuss policy issues related to land use and development. The committee typically meets on the second Thursday of the month at 4 p.m.. The meetings are held at the Raleigh Municipal Building (RMB), located at 222 West Hargett Street.

District D Neighborhood Alliance (DDNA) Meeting — in-person and virtual

Meeting this Saturday - July 15th 9:30AM This month we will welcome Momma Kai (Kara Kai Sanders) as our guest speaker and we will be focusing on homelessness in the area. Momma Kai has recently presented to the City of Raleigh and Wake County Joint Homelessness Task Force and has a unique perspective on homelessness that you will want to hear. Our next meeting is scheduled for July 15th at 9:30 AM at the Thomas G. Crowder Woodland Center and our District D City Councilor Jane Harrison plans to be in attendance. If you have additional topics you would like to discuss or items to bring to the table please reply to this email and we'll share them with Councilor Harrison before the meeting.
