Following detailed analysis and public input on roadway safety, the City of Raleigh has released its Safe Streets for All Comprehensive Safety Action Plan. This plan will prioritize the elimination of roadway crashes resulting in fatalities and severe injuries, with a goal of reaching ZERO fatal and serious injury traffic crashes. Poole Road Widening is Complete! The City is excited to celebrate the completion of the Poole Road Widening Project with a ribbon-cutting event! We made improvements to Poole Road from Maybrook Drive to Barwell Road. Changes include a widened roadway, median, sidewalks, and bicycle facilities. Learn more about the improvements on Poole Road! Art and Poetry Along the Corridor Public Artist Sharon Dowell designed unique bus shelters and a sculptural bench for the Neuse River trailhead as part of the street improvement project. Her art will provide a welcoming space for transit riders and trailhead visitors while showcasing the creativity of local writers. Inspired by the work of the Carolina African American Writers Collective, the artwork features haiku by North Carolina poets and collective members Lenard Moore, Patricia A. Raleigh Fire Station 3 has a new home – so let’s celebrate it! The Raleigh Fire Department will host an open house at the new station, at 936 Rock Quarry Road, on June 15 – and the public is invited. The event is scheduled from 12 noon until 4 p.m. The event will begin with a dedication ceremony, followed by tours of the new station throughout the afternoon.
