The Western Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project will connect downtown Raleigh to downtown Cary with more frequent and reliable transit service. The project has completed the 30% design milestone and is advancing through final design and environmental review. We're inviting the community to learn more about the project at one of three upcoming drop-in style open houses.

Raleigh City Council Candidate Forum At-Large and District D October 20th – 7:00pm Virtual Forum Hosted by West Raleigh CAC, Southwest Raleigh Community Engagement and Hillsborough-Wade CAC are holding a joint candidate forum for Raleigh At-Large and District D Candidates on October 20th at 7:00 pm via Zoom. We will follow the traditional format of opening statements followed by questions from our moderators who will focus on topics of interest to our vibrant Raleigh neighborhoods. Participants can submit questions via chat and there will be a time limit on answers. Our CAC’s encourage robust civic engagement and this will be an opportunity to hear from candidates who can offer their vision for Raleigh’s future and how they would tackle today’s issues. The City of Raleigh's Solid Waste Services team will be hosting popups to hand out FREE biodegradable yard waste bags this fall. Swing by Glen Eden Pilot Park to pick up your five (5) FREE biodegradable paper yard waste bags! Solid Waste Services staff will be on hand to answer all your questions about the city's new service for residents, Enhanced Weekly Yard Waste Pickup. Stormwater staff will also be available to share information about Glen Eden Pilot Park's Green Stormwater Infrastructure and answer questions about water quality programs.
The Text Change Committee is a subcommittee where changes to the zoning code, known as the Unified Development Ordinance, are discussed. This subcommittee reviews the language of any potential code change. The committee typically meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 4 p.m. The meetings are held at the Raleigh Municipal Building in Room 305. The Stewardship Committee will advise the Dix Park Commission on the implementation of the Dix Park Master Plan and related projects, and steward community engagement efforts. The Committee of the Whole is an informal special meeting of the full Planning Commission, held to facilitate further discussions on specific referral items. The Planning Commission bylaws state that rezoning requests that are deemed inconsistent with the Comprehensive Plan and future land use map are automatically referred to the Committee of the Whole. Additionally, requests for Planned Development or Campus District are also automatically referred to this Committee. The committee typically meets on the fourth Thursday of the month at 4 p.m. The meetings are held at the Raleigh Municipal Building (RMB), located at 222 West Hargett Street, in the Council Chamber or in conference room 305.
