  • Theater on the Greenway: The Many Adventures of Peter Rabbit

DIX Park 1030 Richardson Dr, Raleigh, NC

Join Peter Rabbit and friends for a playful adventure filled with puppetry, lively characters and opportunities to join the fun! Presented by Seed Art Share, The Many Adventures of Peter Rabbit is a locally written, interactive theatre production for young audiences. Four professional actors bring multiple characters to life, inviting audience members to participate in the story, answer questions and respond to the action. The venue is the Grove at Dorothea Dix Park and the nearby greenway trail. Along the way, children explore garden vegetables, animals, new vocabulary and—with help from Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle—different types of clothing. The performance runs approximately 40 minutes, with an optional question-and-answer session afterward to learn about the show and working in theatre. Seed Art Share is a local nonprofit theatre company dedicated to building community through interactive theatre, arts education and support for parent artists. The company brings locally written productions to unexpected places throughout the Triangle, including parks, gardens, museums and historic sites, and offers classes, workshops and camps for young people. There is also a 2 p.m. performance.

Raleigh Municipal Building 222 W. Hargett St., Raleigh, NC, United States

      A. MEETING CALLED TO ORDER BY THE MAYOR B. ITEMS TO BE DISCUSSED B.1 Organic Food Composting Pilot Update Shikha Gupta, Solid Waste Services On April 8, 2025, staff presented the Organics Management Feasibility Study Phase 1 Summary and Results to City Council to assess the scope of expanding processing and collections services currently offered by Solid Waste Services (SWS) to develop a sustainable food waste management solution for the City of Raleigh. The Yard Waste Center (YWC) does not currently accept food waste for processing and there is currently no other alternative within Wake County. The Yard Waste Center staff explored pathways to enable viable food waste processing beginning in FY26 by initiating a six-month Food Waste Processing Pilot Program timeline. On January 5, 2026, SWS launched a soft opening of the Food Waste Processing Pilot Program. A third-party vendor delivered 3 batches of food waste to the Yard Waste Center. The food waste was mixed with organic matter, piled on pad, and capped in mulch with temperature probes to monitor the progress. The pilot tested the addition of post-consumer food waste under North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) oversight, to evaluate operational integration. Staff has prepared […]
