This two-day event will feature live music, vendors, and DJ sets inside VAE's main gallery. Free and open to the public. The event starts at 12:30 PM. Le Bizarre Noir (NOIR BIZARRE) “STRANGE BLACK” is a play on words and reclaiming the idea that exploring works by people of color is often unbeknownst to a mainstream audience who had no idea we existed. Daniel Chavis wants to include everyone who is “strange and black” regardless of their background or sexual orientation, “offering something between Hillbillies and Hip Hop.” Noir Bizarre is a mobile multimedia event covering the "grey" areas of Bohemia and Afrofuturist creatives. Public Art Workshop: From Proposal to Installation With Artist Kenseth Armstead

Kenseth Armstead, award winning artist, and NYC Commissioner for Public Design, will guide artists through the process of developing site-specific public art projects. Participants will gain insight into the relationships necessary for successful public art projects, including community outreach and partnerships; presenting to boards and in public hearings; and working with fabricators, engineers, and architects. Artists will learn how to strengthen their concept development, proposal structure and will be provided with resources for finding and applying for temporary and permanent public art opportunities. This workshop is tailored to serve artists new to public art, as well as public artists looking to grow their practice. This workshop will be conducted live and include time for participant Q&A. A recording will be shared with all registered participants after the workshop concludes, regardless of whether a participant attends the live workshop. The recording will be available for download. Free Photo ID for Voting at Wake County Board of Elections

Wake County Board of Elections 1200 North New Hope Road, Raleigh

The Wake County Board of Elections is opening its office outside of regular hours to help voters comply with new photo identification requirements. The board is holding an event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 1200 North New Hope Road in Raleigh to allow voters to check their voter status, take their photo and print a new voter ID card. Any registered Wake County voter can take advantage of this ID service during the Sept. 9 event or during normal business hours at the Wake County Board of Elections office in Raleigh. No appointment is necessary and the process should only take a few minutes. Voters will need to provide their name, date of birth, and last four digits of their social security number on a request form. The Sept. 9 event is only available to eligible voters who reside in Wake County. Any voter interested in obtaining a free photo ID for voting purposes must visit their county board of elections office or the Department of Motor Vehicles. Wake County residents can still register to vote or update their information at the event prior to getting a photo ID.
