The Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission (BPAC) is an all-volunteer advisory body, appointed by the Raleigh City Council. Members are responsible for making recommendations on the implementation of relevant programs, policies, regulations, and funding priorities regarding walking and bicycling in Raleigh. Our next meeting is scheduled for May 20th at 9:30 AM at the Thomas G. Crowder Woodland Center and our District D City Councilor Jane Harrison plans to be in attendance. We will have no guest speaker this month and instead will have an in-person-only work session. We will bring the Zoom meeting option back at our next meeting. Look forward to seeing you! If you are unable to attend our next meeting is tentatively planned for June 17th at 9:30 AM.

This May, Black and Unknown Bards present an outdoor, immersive performance of Marita Bonner's award-winning one-act play, The Purple Flower. Written in 1928, The Purple Flower is a surrealistic allegory for the decades after the end of slavery in America and a prediction for what would come to pass. Reserve tickets for The Purple Flower The Purple Flower is presented as part of SEEK Raleigh, an experimental public arts program of Raleigh Arts. Event Details When: Saturday, May 20 at 12:00 p.m. Location: The Pecan Grove (located beside the parking lot and basketball court) at Shelley Lake Park, 1400 West Millbrook Rd., Raleigh, NC 27614 Cost: "Pay What You Wish" In the spirit of bringing historical Black literature to as many people as possible, Black and Unknown Bards presents The Purple Flower on a "Pay What You Wish" basis. Building Safety Month is held each year during the month of May. Building safety professionals, including building code and fire safety officials, will be available at Moore Square Market on May 21 to answer your questions about how to make your home safe for you and your loved ones. Activities will be available for kids.
