The City is considering updating Tarboro Road between Oakwood Avenue and New Bern Avenue, and we want to know what enhancements you would like to see. What would you like to see along your street? Traffic Calming Measures Sidewalk improvements Place Making   Drop in any time! City staff will be on hand to explain some of the features we can install along the street and get your input on the ones you want to see the most. This is an informal drop-in- style event. Join us and let us know how we can enhance your neighborhood street. This is a family-friendly event with activities for the kids!

Poems Come Alive: A Poetry Performance Workshop

Spoken Word is the art of performance poetry. It can be emotional, inspirational, educational, and as creative and expressive as your imagination. It can also be a tool for healing and growth. How you bring your words to life on stage is about how prepared you are to deliver them. It combines the skill of oration with the subtle nuance of theatre and improvisation. Voice projection, tone, stance, and body movement are important. So is an understanding of oratory tools such as parsing, parallelism, and pace. Whether you are reading at an open mic, featuring at an event, or competing in a slam, the goal for the poet is the same. Deliver your message in a way that engages the listener, capturing their attention for the duration of your poem. This workshop prepares participants to do so. It discusses technique, individual voice, and presence. It also provides the participant with an understanding of the art form and a set of tools to use in sharing their words with an audience. Southwest Raleigh Community Engagement Meeting

Join us Monday night, March 13th at 7PM for our regularly scheduled Southwest Raleigh Community Engagement Meeting we will be meeting on Zoom. Our March meeting will follow our established Open Discussion format - Community comments and discussion are welcome. Tell us all what you believe we need to know. How about the numerous development cases that we are seeing? How about streets, traffic, and the horrible litter is thrown on the side of our streets? Changes in Community Group Meetings - Comments and updates our community leaders and residents. We plan to broadcast the meeting on Facebook if you would prefer to watch it and not participate. Our next meeting is scheduled for April 10th. Current plans are to invite City Staff to tell us about a program to improve pedestrian safety. Make Your Voice Heard! The City of Raleigh invites all community organizations, neighborhood residents, business organizations, and other stakeholders to share their input on the draft 2023-24 Annual Action Plan (AAP). FY2023-2024 Draft Annual Action Plan FY2023-2024 Draft Annual Action Plan Summary  The AAP describes how the City of Raleigh intends to allocate housing and community development funds in the upcoming fiscal year. Fiscal Year 2023-2024 is the fourth year of the 2021-2025 Five-Year Consolidated Plan (ConPlan). The City must submit an Annual Action Plan for every year of the ConPlan, describing how this year’s activities will address the long-term housing and community development goals identified in the ConPlan. The Annual Action Plan identifies strategies, resources, and organizations that can help advance key priorities in the coming year.
