Digging Deeper: Stories in Local Archaeology

As Mordecai Historic Park investigates its own archaeological footprint, the park will host a series of lectures with local experts sharing about their projects at historic sites, cemeteries, and more. In November we welcome Melissa Timo, Staff Archaeologist and Historic Cemetery Specialist with the North Carolina Office of State Archaeology. She will speak on her work in historic cemeteries throughout the state and preservation efforts, challenges, and local resources. Registration is not required but is encouraged. Holiday Crafting Workshop

Come enjoy a fun holiday crafting workshop on how to create kimekomi holiday trees! Kimekomi trees are made from a technique where a pattern is drawn and then cut onto a surface, such as a styrofoam foam form. Fabric is then placed over the pattern and tucked and glued into the cuts. The trees are then decorated with objects such as ribbons and beads.
