Join us as we make wreaths with recycled materials! Each participant with be given a wreath form and will be free to create their own masterpiece. We will also provide lots of recycled fabrics, beads, wire and ribbon. If you have any recycled materials you would like to use, please feel free to bring them. Hop on the Historic Raleigh Trolley to travel through time! During this series, we’ll visit different historic sites and museums in the Raleigh area for hands-on activities and to learn more about the past. Each month will feature a different field location with transportation provided on the Historic Raleigh Trolley. Participants must be accompanied by an adult; guardians attend for free. As Mordecai Historic Park investigates its own archaeological footprint, the park will host a series of lectures with local experts sharing about their projects at historic sites, cemeteries, and more. In November we welcome Melissa Timo, Staff Archaeologist and Historic Cemetery Specialist with the North Carolina Office of State Archaeology. She will speak on her work in historic cemeteries throughout the state and preservation efforts, challenges, and local resources. Registration is not required but is encouraged. We proudly honor Raleigh's veterans and thank them for their service. Come and enjoy the end of National Veterans and Military Families Month with us at Five Points. We are partnering with Oak Street Health and Raleigh's Veterans of Foreign Wars to provide a brunch honoring Raleigh's veterans. Come enjoy a fun holiday crafting workshop on how to create kimekomi holiday trees! Kimekomi trees are made from a technique where a pattern is drawn and then cut onto a surface, such as a styrofoam foam form. Fabric is then placed over the pattern and tucked and glued into the cuts. The trees are then decorated with objects such as ribbons and beads. Welcome to the holiday season! Decorate a gingerbread house inspired by Raleigh’s historic sites! This family-friendly program will take you to two historic locations in Raleigh. Meet at Fred Fletcher Park and take a trolley ride to Latta University Historic Park to explore its history. Then, ride the trolley back to Borden Building at Fletcher Park to build your own gingerbread house inspired by the Latta house. Each registrant will have their own gingerbread house, and decorating supplies will be provided.Location: Fred Fletcher ParkAges: 5+Cost: $15
