The Dix Park Community Committee is an advisory committee designed to represent the diversity of the community and bring a broad range of experiences and expertise to the Dorothea Dix Park project. This committee provides guidance and recommendation to the Dix Park Leadership Committee on matters related to park development, programming, and engagement. Raleigh Parks is excited to announce another magical season of Holiday Express in 2024. For 17 nights from Dec. 2 – 18, Pullen Park will be transformed into a whimsical world of holiday spirit, imagination, and inspiration! Take a train ride on the famous Holiday Express, get shrunk down to size by hopping into our life-size snow globe, visit Santa in his mobile workshop, learn how to become an elf in our new adventure, and much more. Discover history, mystery and lore with your ghost host on the Haunted Trolley, if you dare, for a special late-night tour of downtown Raleigh’s most haunted places. Hop on the Historic Raleigh Trolley to travel through time! During this series, we’ll visit different historic sites and museums in the Raleigh area for hands-on activities and to learn more about the past. Each month will feature a different field location with transportation provided on the Historic Raleigh Trolley. Participants must be accompanied by an adult; guardians attend for free. All ghoulish guardians are invited to unleash your haunted hounds for our first HOWL-O-Ween event at Carolina Pines Community Center Dog Park! Pups will strut their stuff and wag their tails in our pet parade along with a PAW-some costume contest. Other activities will include tricks for treats, bone bobbing, and HOWL-worthy pictures in a PUP-kin photo booth. Categories include spookiest, cutest, most creative, and best doggie/owner duo. Vendors, merchants, and sponsors will be on-site for questions; while treat bags with goodies and coupons are on a first-come, first-serve basis; pre-registered BARK-ticipants are guaranteed their cut of the loot. Join the Friends of the City of Raleigh (COR) Museum on our annual true crime Dark Raleigh Walking Tour. The COR Museum brings to life some of Raleigh's most fascinating and grisly stories. The tour is different every year and features a whole new slate of chilling tales. Dark Raleigh is an "after-hours" interactive walking tour featuring true stories brought to life by local actors. Tours will begin every half hour starting at 6 p.m., and last approximately 1 hour. Tours will include walking outdoors, so please dress appropriately. *The tour is recommended for 16 and older due to the mature/adult nature of the stories. Biltmore Hills Community Center, the Raleigh Police Advisory Board, and South East Raleigh Promise would like to invite you to the second annual trunk-or-treat event! Bring your children in their best costumes and come enjoy free candy, learn about the Police Advisory Board, and enjoy an awesome fall festival.
