Join us on Thursday, Sept. 28, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. as we celebrate a significant milestone in the City of Raleigh’s Community Climate Action Plan. We are excited to announce that the City of Raleigh is moving a portion of its fleet to run on renewable propane. Nearly half of the City’s total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions come from transportation, and reducing vehicle emissions is a critical part of our climate action strategy. Raleigh is mapping out a “clean transportation” future that involves transitioning from fossil fuels to cleaner alternatives like electric vehicles and renewable propane. We invite you to celebrate this significant step in achieving the City’s Community Climate Action Plan. We are holding a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 28, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Westinghouse Road fueling station at 2540 Westinghouse Blvd. Parking is available onsite. This event is an excellent opportunity for the public to see some of the vehicles that use renewable propane and to check out some of the other electric and clean energy vehicles in our fleet. Grab a blanket or a chair and meet your friends at Moore Square each First Friday for a fun & free feature film! Attendees will enjoy pre-show entertainment on theme with each movie before a full-length screening outside under the stars. The series is free & open to the public and food will be available for purchase on-site.
Bring the family and have some fun building a scarecrow! You will need to bring old clothes (that you are okay leaving behind) and create a one-of-a-kind Scarecrow for all to see! Be creative! Don't forget to bring props to make your scarecrow stand out. We will supply the twine, straw, and a structure for you.
Join us to gather around a warm bonfire, decorate a family pumpkin and enter into our contest. After all that, play our fall games, and purchase your fall favorites including pumpkins, corn stalks, and more from local vendors. We will kick off our event with a drum circle and end the day enjoying live music. The Raleigh Fire Department will be on-site to wrap up Fire Prevention Week. They will be sharing tips and celebrating with their Fire Truck bounce house and slide. This will be free for all. Cost: $35 Harvest Fest Family Package (Includes 4 ride tickets, 4 carnival game tickets, 1 Junior Conductor Adventure, and a pumpkin for the family to decorate.) Additional ride and game tickets will be sold at normal rates.
Raleigh Police Advisory Board will be there to share more about our role and goals. But, most importantly to host a safe, family friendly and fun Halloweens event along with the Raleigh Police Dept who will be handing out treats and assisting with traffic.

Raleigh Transportation is coordinating with IKE Smart Cities, LLC (IKE) and Downtown Raleigh Alliance (DRA) on the deployment of smart kiosks in multiple locations within the downtown area. A ribbon cutting ceremony to highlight this new interactive, wayfinding system for Downtown Raleigh will be held Nov. 14 at 11 a.m. at 239 Fayetteville Street. Speakers include Jibran Shermohammed (IKE Smart Cities), Mayor Mary-Ann Baldwin (City of Raleigh), and Bill King (Downtown Raleigh Alliance). The event will feature a kiosk demo and a short reception with food and drinks. Currently, we have 6 sites that are live and open for use.
