    The City of Raleigh's Solid Waste Services team will be hosting popups to hand out FREE biodegradable yard waste bags this fall. Swing by Glen Eden Pilot Park to pick up your five (5) FREE biodegradable paper yard waste bags! Solid Waste Services staff will be on hand to answer all your questions about the city's new service for residents, Enhanced Weekly Yard Waste Pickup. Stormwater staff will also be available to share information about Glen Eden Pilot Park's Green Stormwater Infrastructure and answer questions about water quality programs.

    Unload your dearly departed electronic waste and let your old confidential documents shred in peace this spooky season!   Join Solid Waste Services for the City of Raleigh’s 2026 Shred + Dead event! From 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, October 24 at the Wilders Grove Solid Waste Services Facility, staff will be on hand to help residents dispose of specialty waste items.  Please use the main entrance for visitors and employees by turning right at the intersection of Corporation Parkway and Commerce Park Drive and follow the signage. A drive-thru system will be implemented to help ensure a smooth drop-off experience for residents. Participants are urged to drive slowly through the stations as there will be foot traffic and staff directing attendees. Please note the following items will NOT be accepted: Washers Dryers Ovens Refrigerators Pianos E-Waste disposal Keep your dead and unused small household appliances out of the landfill by dropping them off. Examples include air fryers, hair dryers, lamps, TVs, vacuums, DVD players, radios, toasters, and blenders. Think anything with a cord! Paper shredding A limit of four banker box-sized boxes or four large bags (13-gallon) of paper per household or business is in effect. Only one visit to the event per household please.
