Unmasking Brain Injury Workshop Each year, an estimated 1.7 million people sustain a traumatic brain injury (TBI), and about 5.3 million Americans are living with a TBI-related disability. To raise awareness and support those impacted, Raleigh Parks Specialized Recreation and Inclusion Services is partnering with the Brain Injury Association of North Carolina to host an Unmasking Brain Injury Workshop at Sertoma Arts Center on March 17th from 10 AM to 12 PM. Participants will create their own masks at the workshop. Masks and art supplies will be provided for all participants. Join us for Anatomy of a Traffic Stop Join us for an interactive event, “Anatomy of a Traffic Stop,” hosted by the Raleigh Police Advisory Board! This event brings the community and the Raleigh Police Department together to discuss the rights and responsibilities of drivers and officers during a traffic stop. There will be a live traffic stop demonstration, with key moments paused for discussion. A prosecutor, criminal defense attorney, and RPD officer will answer questions and provide multiple perspectives.      When? Thursday, March 20 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.      Where? LGBTQIA+ Historic Context Study The LGBTQIA+ Historic Context Study report is now available! Check out the final report or project summary to learn about some of Raleigh's important LGBTQIA+ historic places. The project evaluates 20 places for potential local Raleigh Historic Landmark listing, suggests other possible recognition options, and provides recommendations for further study. You are also invited to join city staff and the consultant, Cynthia de Miranda, as they share findings and provide updates about the next steps in the study. Light refreshments will be served.
