Date: Saturday, February 22, 2025 Time: 2:00 – 4:00 PM Location: Biltmore Hills Community Center Rm 1 This meeting is an opportunity to reconnect, share ideas, and build a strong foundation for our collective work. We’ll be reintroducing PowerUp NC, discussing environmental justice, revisiting community-identified problems, and envisioning solutions together. You’ll also have the chance to meet our new field organizer and participate in a collaborative visioning exercise for the future of Raleigh. What to Expect: Learn more about PowerUp NC and our mission Explore how environmental justice connects to your community concerns Revisit and refine local problems Strengthen relationships through shared conversations and experiences Engage in a visioning activity to shape the future of our community Set a recurring date for monthly community meetings Your voice and participation are essential in shaping the work we do! Survivor Unmasking Brain Injury Workshop

Unmasking Brain Injury Workshop Each year, an estimated 1.7 million people sustain a traumatic brain injury (TBI), and about 5.3 million Americans are living with a TBI-related disability. To raise awareness and support those impacted, Raleigh Parks Specialized Recreation and Inclusion Services is partnering with the Brain Injury Association of North Carolina to host an Unmasking Brain Injury Workshop at Sertoma Arts Center on March 17th from 10 AM to 12 PM. Participants will create their own masks at the workshop. Masks and art supplies will be provided for all participants. Join us for Anatomy of a Traffic Stop Join us for an interactive event, “Anatomy of a Traffic Stop,” hosted by the Raleigh Police Advisory Board! This event brings the community and the Raleigh Police Department together to discuss the rights and responsibilities of drivers and officers during a traffic stop. There will be a live traffic stop demonstration, with key moments paused for discussion. A prosecutor, criminal defense attorney, and RPD officer will answer questions and provide multiple perspectives.      When? Thursday, March 20 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.      Where? LGBTQIA+ Historic Context Study The LGBTQIA+ Historic Context Study report is now available! Check out the final report or project summary to learn about some of Raleigh's important LGBTQIA+ historic places. The project evaluates 20 places for potential local Raleigh Historic Landmark listing, suggests other possible recognition options, and provides recommendations for further study. You are also invited to join city staff and the consultant, Cynthia de Miranda, as they share findings and provide updates about the next steps in the study. Light refreshments will be served.
