Noir Bizarre’s IHaveADreamPop! Festival

VAE Raleigh 228 Fayetteville St, Raleigh, NC

Noir Bizarre's IHaveADreamPop! Electric Underground Railroad event is happening on September 8 and 9 at VAE Raleigh. This two-day event will feature live music, vendors, and DJ sets inside VAE's main gallery. Free and open to the public. The event starts at 12:30 PM. Le Bizarre Noir (NOIR BIZARRE) “STRANGE BLACK” is a play on words and reclaiming the idea that exploring works by people of color is often unbeknownst to a mainstream audience who had no idea we existed. Daniel Chavis wants to include everyone who is “strange and black” regardless of their background or sexual orientation, “offering something between Hillbillies and Hip Hop.” Noir Bizarre is a mobile multimedia event covering the "grey" areas of Bohemia and Afrofuturist creatives. We invite the local Triangle community to experience the bohemian side of this Black Futurist manifesto in art, music, and other endeavors. Learn more about Noir Bizarre's IHaveADreamPop! The project will use storytelling and public art to support the well-being and belonging of our pan-ethnic Asian American (AA) community in North Carolina. First, AA oral histories that center on finding joy will be collected and publicly archived; then, using these stories, the team will work with the community to create a mural and install it at a public location in North Carolina. This project is supported by SEEK Raleigh, an experimental public art program by Raleigh Arts. Projects should engage with the community in City of Raleigh parks, greenways, and/or community spaces.
