The project will use storytelling and public art to support the well-being and belonging of our pan-ethnic Asian American (AA) community in North Carolina. First, AA oral histories that center on finding joy will be collected and publicly archived; then, using these stories, the team will work with the community to create a mural and install it at a public location in North Carolina. This project is supported by SEEK Raleigh, an experimental public art program by Raleigh Arts. Projects should engage with the community in City of Raleigh parks, greenways, and/or community spaces.

The Artist Studio Summer Camp is an art-based day camp at Pullen Arts Center that provides pre-teens and teens (ages 11-16) with the opportunity for skill-building and creative exploration within a professional art studio setting. Camp workshops are designed and taught by professional teaching artists. Artist Studio Summer Camp runs from July 8 - August 2 as four one-week sessions with different studio themes. In conjunction with honoring Black History Month, Block Gallery will host a public conversation with the featured artists of the "It Ain't All Black and White" photography exhibition. This event will be led and facilitated by Lamar Whidbee, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate with a passion for helping others overcome mental health challenges. The conversation will offer an opportunity to center Black stories as we examine the emotions and the relationship to ancestors, community, environment, and creative practice. How do our sophisticated emotions steer and inform our lives, and how do we show up in the world, behind or in front of the camera? "It Ain't All Black and White" is a Block Gallery exhibition curated by North Carolina-based photographer Leticia Clementina and features the works of 10 dynamic photographers dedicated to documenting the fullness and complexity of Black life. Featured photographers include Derrick Beasley, Mark Anthony Brown Jr., Samantha Everette, Chris Facey, Titus Brooks Heagins, Gadisse Lee, Phillip "King Phill" Loken, Jaylan Rhea, and Cornell Watson.
